DISTRIBUTION CHANNEL DEVELOPMENT
Distribution & Channel Development
You have a product. Now you need commercially relevant routes to market. Having a finished product does not automatically create distribution.
The next problem may be identifying which retailers, distributors, resellers or other commercial counterparties are actually relevant — and approaching them in a controlled way.
X.M develops defined market-side channel opportunities around a sufficiently prepared physical product. It does not mean selling guaranteed access to someone else’s business.
What channel development means
Depending on the product and market, that may involve:
- Distributors
- Retailers
- Specialist stores
- Wholesalers
- Resellers
The correct channel depends on the actual product, price, market and commercial structure.
A long target list is not the objective. A commercially relevant route is.
What X.M can do
Within an agreed channel-development scope, X.M may: clarify the channel objective, identify relevant channel types, identify potential counterparties, prioritise commercial targets, prepare defined outreach, contact selected targets, make introductions where a genuine current relationship exists, communicate approved commercial information, track responses, identify requirements or blockers raised by counterparties and recommend the next commercial step.
What you receive
A standard channel-development engagement may provide:
- Defined channel objective
- Relevant channel types
- Prioritised counterparties
- Structured outreach
- Response and status tracking, material requirements or blockers and a defined next-step recommendation
The service can be completed even where a counterparty says no.
The deliverable is the channel-development work and resulting commercial position, not a guaranteed yes from another business.

What X.M cannot guarantee
Independent counterparties make their own decisions.
X.M does not guarantee: retailer placement, product listing, distributor acceptance, reseller acceptance, purchase orders, signed agreements, sales volume or market success.
Outreach and relationship boundary
X.M may have an established relationship with some counterparties. Others may be new outreach targets. A cold approach is not presented as established access.
Likewise, a historical relationship is not presented as current access unless it is still active and relevant to the engagement.
Scope and commercial terms
The standard Base Scope covers: one defined product or closely related product family, one defined market, one principal channel-development objective, up to five principal outreach targets, one defined outreach cycle, response/status tracking, blocker identification and a final next-step recommendation.
Distributor and retailer outreach is limited to the agreed targets and outreach cycle.
Additional targets, markets, outreach cycles or extended coordination must be agreed separately.
